Welcome to oss

Did you get here from one of our QR codes?

  • Did you know QR codes are a common vehicle to deliver malware to your devices?

  • During the Covid epidemic many businesses began using QR codes to reduce contact and allow touch free access to their menus or web sites.

  • There have been multiple cases of fake QR codes being placed on restaurant tables that would download a virus to any device used to scan the code.

What you can do to protect yourself from malicious QR Codes

  • Always check for tampering before any scanning any QR Code

  • Be wary of shortened URLs such as “bit.ly” or “tinyurl.com”.

  • When scanning the QR code the URL that pops up should look like it belongs to the restaurant or business that posted the code.

  • Do not scan QR codes from unknown sources or that are posted with an offer that seems too good to be true
